• God’s Magnificent Design September 18 “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and the firmament is declaring the work of His hands.” Psalm 19:1 Listen to today's Devotional

Noted author H. G. Wells once said that, when he was young, he would look into the starry skies and he would be overwhelmed by the mystery and the majesty of creation. It would take his breath away. But, in an interview he gave when he was an old man, he said that all the mystery was gone, all the glory was gone. He said, “I look into the Heavens just like I would look at wallpaper in a waiting room.” How sad that is!

If we aren’t careful, the jadedness of life can take away the grandeur of God’s created order. Never lose sight of the wonder that this world was designed by God - and that we are a part of His magnificent design.

That knowledge will help your life catch fire, it will renew your passion – and it will cause you to declare the glory of God. https://mailchi.mp/083efc2d3786/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453037?e=9cbe669f39

  • Partial obedience September 17 Samuel said, “Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22 Listen to today's Devotional

Partial obedience is disobedience, and it cost Saul his reign as Israel’s king. God had instructed him to destroy the wicked Amalekites. Instead, Saul stopped short of completing his assignment, even taking as spoils from battle the choicest of goods and livestock. When confronted by God’s prophet Samuel, Saul offered the dubious rationalization that he spared the animals to use as a sacrifice to God. Samuel rebuked Saul, saying, “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.”

Obedience matters to God. In fact, Jesus said that we prove our love for Him by obeying His commandments. Are there areas of disobedience in your life? If so, confess them to God, receive His forgiveness through the sacrifice of Christ, and begin a life of obedience today. https://mailchi.mp/0a0cd586266b/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453033?e=9cbe669f39

  • A Love Blockage September 16 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8 Listen to today's Devotional

Corrie Ten Boom was a Dutch Christian whose family helped hide the Jews during Hitler’s regime in World War II. There’s a movie about her life called The Hiding Place. I recommend it, by the way. When she was younger, Corrie loved a young man she believed would become her husband. Instead, he married her best friend. Heartbroken, she received consolation from her dad. “Corrie, you are a victim of blocked love.

You can take that love and keep it locked up and become bitter, or you can release that love and shower it on others.” She chose to release her love in Jesus’ name and to have a ministry that would impact millions. Is there a love blockage in your life? Don’t become bitter and miserable.

Remove the blockage, so you too can love and serve others in Jesus’ name. https://mailchi.mp/6be26bb97387/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453029?e=9cbe669f39

  • First place September 13 “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3 Listen to today's Devotional

When my son Cliff was little, someone gave him a small violin. He wasn’t able to play it, so I picked it up. I even read an instruction book! But playing that violin was a challenge, and after a while I put it aside. If you had asked me if there was any music in that violin, I would have replied, “Absolutely not.” But take that same violin, put it in the hands of a skilled musician, and watch what happens. That musician has met the condition that it takes – the discipline and talent to play that violin.

What conditions do we need to meet in order to enjoy the very best God has for us? First and foremost, God wants us to get rid of other gods in our lives. Actively choose to give Him first place in your life and see what a difference a total commitment to Him will make. https://mailchi.mp/84677fcaf168/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-452997?e=9cbe669f39

  • Worship Him September 12 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. Psalm 149:4 Listen to today's Devotional

One of the major problems with our worship is that we evaluate it by asking the wrong question. For example, we might ask someone who’s attended church: “Did you enjoy worship?” But the point of worship is not that we enjoy it, although we certainly should, but that God enjoys it; that He is pleased and honored by it. So a better question would be, “Did God enjoy your worship?”

In worship, God is the audience, and we are on stage. If our worship is true and God-honoring, He is blessed by every hymn sung, every word proclaimed, every gift given, and every testimony spoken. Worship is all about Him … and all for Him. So let me ask: Does God get pleasure out of the worship you offer Him? https://mailchi.mp/fa07b9149ef1/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-452993?e=9cbe669f39

  • Genuine relationship September 11 And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Luke 2:52 Listen to today's Devotional

When my sons became teenagers, they did not necessarily do what I told them to do – they began to do what I did! Before long every parent begins to see in their children not the values or lessons they have tried to teach, but the behavior they have modeled. Luke’s Gospel tells us that Jesus grew in mind, body, and spirit. He grew up to be like His Father and to be about His Father’s business.

The time Jesus spent with God the Father shaped His life. The time our children spend with us will shape their lives, too. So make sure your behavior and life priorities model a genuine relationship with the Heavenly Father. You will be helping your children grow as Jesus did, and to be about the Father’s business. https://mailchi.mp/340ca68ef6cf/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-452989?e=9cbe669f39

  • Don’t be afraid September 10 And He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints. Romans 8:27 Listen to today's Devotional

Did you realize that God is searching your heart right now? You might be thinking, “I’m not sure I want God to search my heart. He may not like what He finds there.” But God’s searching is not to condemn us, but to work out the very best in our lives for His glory and for our joy.

He’s constantly searching our hearts to bless us, and to make a difference in our lives. So don’t be afraid. Ask God to search your heart and trust Him to deal lovingly and justly with what He finds. https://mailchi.mp/8ca3840a94e8/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-452985?e=9cbe669f39

  • ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ PLEASE READ! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I am putting the finishing touches on my new film, The Art of The Wound.

This documentary production chronicles my own journey into a devotional life of creativity, and illuminates how I transformed my deepest wounds and a life of adversity into ART that would deeply inspire and transform many individuals and communities. It features personal interviews with some of my closest friends and family who have laid witness to my journey, offering invaluable perspectives into my unconventional moneyless lifestyle and the results of my works.

My no-budget film (costing ZERO dollars in production) is the result of almost a decade of personal sacrifice, hardship, and a consistent drive to create art that might benefit the world.

I look forward to publicly sharing The Art of The Wound in the coming days for you to view in its entirety, totally free of charge (as I have done with all of my art).

Here are a few initial responses:

“Brilliant! I am so deeply moved to see Cedar’s life unfold, how he impacted others and stayed dedicated to his values. Cedar is amazing. I am so touched by his life. I love how he put all this together. What a masterpiece, and I learned so much!” - Megan Sewell

“Wow! What a fucking awesome compilation of Cedar’s work and life. It was incredibly compelling and hard not to continue watching. I am in awe and inspired. Seeing and hearing everyone's contributions was so beautiful and true. I can't wait to share!” - Shawn Postma

“Stunningly beautiful, creative, and profound! Just want to give Cedar a big rainbow-infused hug!” - Mary Brown (Mystical Musings)

The next step for me is to submit the film to various independent film festivals, so that my story can touch many others. Unfortunately, this part is not free as most independent film festivals have reasonable submission fees. Absent any working budget, I will need your help.

I have already identified the following appropriate film festivals for submission and plan to add others based on the amount of funding I receive:

    Miami Independent Film Festival
    Slamdance Film Festival
    Big Sky Documentary Film Festival
    Creation International Film Festival
    DaVinci Film Festival

I am currently accepting donations via PayPal (to cedar.branches@icloud.com or via paypal.me/cedarbranches) to help me achieve these goals. All donors will receive early access to view my new film (as early as today)!

Thank you for helping me to share my story in a way that is meaningful.

    With much love,
    Cedar

  • God’s image September 9 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27 Listen to today's Devotional

My dog, Winston, is a loyal, fun, and bright companion. He sees me pray every night, and even waits beside me; but he does not have the capacity to pray. In the creation account in Genesis, we read how God created plants and animals after their own kind; but in the case of human beings, God did something different. He formed man in His own image and breathed life into him.

You and I, because we’re made in God’s image, have the unique ability to communicate with God Almighty, through worship and prayer. Because we are “after His kind,” we can know Him, and He can know us. Let that sink in a moment. Almighty God has created you to know Him! So what are you waiting for? Get to know Him. Talk with Him right now. He’s listening. https://mailchi.mp/5a46ac5fd79f/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-452961?e=9cbe669f39

  • Come Together September 5 “…not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another…” Hebrews 10:25 Listen to today's Devotional

One of the oldest living things in the world is the Sequoia tree. It always grows straight up and has the ability to right itself if it gets tilted. Its bark contains an acid that repels the insects and diseases that destroy most trees. It has wonderful healing qualities; if it is struck by lightning it can heal itself. And sequoia trees grow in clusters, with their roots intertwined with the roots of other trees, so they can withstand even a strong storm.

That sounds a lot like the fellowship of the church, doesn’t it? We come together in worship, we listen to one another and relate to one another. We laugh together and share one another’s sorrow. And most of all, we grow together as we devote ourselves to the fellowship of the body of Christ. https://mailchi.mp/3f5cf6b14014/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-452945?e=9cbe669f39
