If Bibi fails to remain in charge of the government, things are going to go differently from here on out between the Trump Administration and Israel.

  • "I'm Willing to Fight for Someone I Don't Know": Sanders Speech Becomes Viral Rallying Cry
    https://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/10/21/im-willing-fight-someone-i-dont-know-sanders-speech-becomes-viral-rallying-cry

Sen. Bernie Sanders' closing remarks during his event with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Queens on Saturday became a viral rallying cry for supporters of the 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful over the weekend as thousands of social media users promised to be "willing to fight for someone I don't know."

"Are you willing to fight for that person who you don't even know as much as you're willing to fight for yourself?" Sanders asked the crowd of over 26,000 who gathered at Queensbridge Park in Long Island City to hear the senator, Ocasio-Cortez, and others speak. An overflow crowd of an additional 5,000 people were reportedly listening to the event from outside of the park.

Twitter users throughout the weekend tweeted affirmations that they were willing to do just that, a continuation of sorts from the senator's "Not Me, Us" campaign tagline.

The request from the Vermont senator was reminiscent of the message sent at Saturday's rally from Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, and in an endorsement video by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

Omar emphasized Sanders' multiracial, diverse coalition of support.

"Senator Bernie Sanders is the only candidate that has built a movement, and continues to build a movement, that transcends gender, ethnicity, religion," said Omar. "And we know that in order to tak on Trump, we're going to need a unifier, someone who understands what the fight looks like and someone who is ready to defeat him."

The future with a Sanders presidency, Omar added, is one where the U.S. could potentially live up to its promise.

"There was an America that I dreamed about," Omar said. "There is an America that most people believe in. It is an ideal. It's not a reality yet."

In her remarks Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez sounded similar notes, telling the Queens crowd that the Sanders movement is about more than simply changing the White House.

"Our priority is not only defeating Donald Trump," said Ocasio-Cortez. "It's defeating the system of which he is a symptom."

Rally attendee Tasfiya Kashem, 16, told Gothamist on Saturday that she finds the senator's message and advocacy to be an ageless message that transcends identity.

"He uplifts working class people, people of color and women, minorities in general," said Kashem. "I think a lot of people believe that since he's a white man, it's important to endorse other candidates like women candidates and candidates of color, but I think he's still the only candidate who works for those people."

Washington Post opinion editor James Downie wrote Sunday that Ocasio-Cortez and Omar's endorsements are part of a generational shift in progressive politics.

"Whatever happens to Sanders' 2020 campaign, the movement behind it likely will continue to be a force to be reckoned with," wrote Downie.

At Jacobin, Kalewold H. Kalewold opined that the Sanders campaign's lasting effect will be the invigoration of a true working class, left movement.

"Something new is taking shape for the American left, a unique opportunity presented by his candidacy to build social democracy in America, rein in the long and destructive arm of American military policy, and unite a durable coalition that can build pro-worker policies for decades to come," write Kalewold.

  • Oh My Way Ward Child:
I brought you into this world out of Love. You were kept because I considered you a gift.... a hope that both our lives would be rich and full of of love because of you. As you grow older I see those trials and tribulations you must go through. I have had them myself. Perhaps you are drinking to much or fall into the drug trap of if I do this I will feel better about myself. The pain will subside and I will be better. then I see what happened to me...... you get hurt, you become lost, feeling worthless and out of step. Perhaps your family falls apart, or you lose your job. I cry inside because I know these feelings. But in my life I over came these life problems. With age I grew to realize that MY LIFE is what I choose to make of it. That those issues which caused me so much grief and harm can fade into the past and leave a better soul. But my child this takes effort. You must believe that the life I helped give you is worth the effort. That you are strong enough to find in yourself the will to go on and create a happy life for yourself. No ones life is ever perfect. We are all born flawed. But it is and always has been my desire to see you happy. To over come your life issues, grow with dignity, Love and have compassion, perceive that life is a "gift". One day I will no longer be here to advise or hold you, There suddenly will be no one to call when in pain or crying. I will become a memory, one I hope you will cherish. And then live your life to it's end, and teach what I have tried to teach you. That You Are Loved, and always will be.Love Dad

  • A Different Drummer:
A trip to the store, for some special spaghetti fixins, and garlic bread. Feeling good. Life is pretty easy and pleasant lately. Cept for the pains of getting old, I get up when I want. Go to bed when I choose. Watch what I want when I want....do what I want whenever. No worries, about much of anything really. Then I met her, Noticed her going into the store. Sitting on the ground on a old table cloth. 20 to 30 thirty something. Pretty red hair and freckles, always been a favorite to me. I went in, got what I needed came back out. She was still sitting there organizing car tools. I walked over and inquired won't start?. The most beautiful smile beamed back at me. Oh no it starts and goes. But I keep hitting things with it, she giggled. Another beautiful smile. You see right now I am living in this old car and it has been leaking water after my last bump. The front was fairly well crunched, and the radiator obviously damaged. I peeked in, and said its banged pretty good, I would go get some "aluma fix" it has real aluminum fillings in it and is good at sealing larger leaks and works fast and pretty well. She listened. Smiled. She chatted on awhile, telling me about the engine, and it's uniqueness and how she could never find a good youtube on the car because it has a v-8. I listened awhile, needing to get home I kinda excused myself. AND SHE THANKED ME........... I really did nothing for her. Homeless living in her broken car and she was kind and nice. I thought about all the things I have posted here. She was almost an embodiment of everything I have been posting. Not afraid, nor feeling hopeless or distressed. Just accepting her current situation, smiling through it all. And still able to show kindness to a stranger. I felt somewhat guilty when I got home. Looking around at my good fortune in life. And said a prayer, Dear God Please Help The Red Haired Lady. She is kind and generous in her ways. And really needs your help. I Hope Today He Hears Me. Because even the poor and distressed are often times those who can bring the biggest smiles and joys in life. And give me hope for the future. -Gary
