• Northern attraction.

Between Norway, Britain and Germany we could take on the world with our economy and political power and national glory. Why would a Briton permanently move to and set down roots in France, Spain or Italy? We are further north so it doesn’t make sense. Considering it’s history why would any European permanently move to and set down roots in Germany? “To set down roots in Germany” is an adage or byword for a bad idea or a bad plan! Similarly, why would a Norwegian permanently move to and set down roots in Britain? They would not as they are further north. Let’s face it the north is whiter! However, obviously Southern Europeans are more than welcome to move north. This northern attraction determines that if Norway, Britain and Germany were to unite and create a North Sea Empire, then we should seat the government and capital of this hypothetical country as far north as possible, in such as Oslo. London is too far south! Britain has just left the EU, Norway is not in the EU and Germany has nothing to lose. Another note on Germany, I am about to read two books, one on the history of Norway and the other on the history of the Vikings and Norse culture, I am hoping that the Norwegians take some pride in a humble foreigner reading about their history and culture, however, I cannot say the same about Germany. Knowing what we know how can Germans take pride in a humble foreigner reading about their history? We need to fix this. Southern European countries would have no option but to join a northern union. Northwestern Europe should lead the way. I know a union of Northwestern Europe is too good to be true, but nothing ever happened by no one ever saying anything at all. Such a union would be attractive to the world, even the envy of it. This is especially important for us concerning Americans, as they would be a attracted to a union of Norway, Britain and Germany, and they would look back to us. What I mean by attraction is that Americans (and Canadians) have a whole continent with every possible type of environment and climate, from tundra to tropical and everything in between. Therefore, Americans are not even remotely interested in little old Norway or Britain on their own. The EU is too big, too southern (as in Brussels) and too pan-European and hence too unattractive for Americans. Why would Americans move to and set down roots in Poland or Romania? To reiterate, Americans are never attracted to Norway on its own or Britain on its own or Germany on its own, but together we could attract them!

  • #2019Election #MaximizeYourVote #VotePPC
    Hey Guys,
I wanna bring your attention to this coming election. I think it goes without saying that this country has been goin' down hill. but especially since the PC and Liberal government have betrayed the aboriginal population, our First nations, Metis, and Inuit people countless times without REAL reconciliation or change. Broken treaties, government dependency and the selling off our our rights...There is a reason why we never see change, The same old people get elected every election. we are isolated and most of us do not vote... I can see why its easy to get sucked into the narrative most ppl push these days about how our votes do not count...well They DO COUNT...<3

United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

I got this email today from #MaximeBernier of the #PPC or #PeoplesPartyOfCanada. I think it will catch the eye of my family especially and my native friends all across Canada. Here it is:

The People's Party of Canada’s platform for the October 2019 general election is being progressively unveiled. Today, we invite you to read our policy proposal on aboriginal issues.

The PPC offers the most developed platform and the best policies. Our party will grow if more Canadians hear our message. If you know anyone who might be interested in today's topic, send them this email.

    * * *

Aboriginal Issues: A New Relationship Based on Mutual Respect
    Issue
The aboriginal population of Canada is extremely diversified. It accounts for about 5% of Canada’s population and comprises First Nations, Inuit and Metis. There are more than 600 First Nations communities dispersed across the country. More than half of First Nations Canadians don’t live on reserves.

Aboriginal issues are also very complex. Some communities are prosperous, others much poorer than the Canadian average. Many suffer from acute social problems, including crime, domestic violence, substance abuse and suicide. Many don’t have the basic services that we take for granted such as access to clean water. There are other major issues to address regarding treaty negotiations, housing, property rights on reserves, etc.

It is not possible to address more than a few of these issues in the context of this election platform. Here is what a People’s Party government would prioritize on the basis of its four key principles.

    Respect

Many injustices were committed in the past by the Canadian government towards aboriginals. We cannot rewrite the past, but only seek the best way to live together harmoniously in the future. This relationship must be based on mutual respect and a balanced approach taking into account the needs of the aboriginal population and the interests of the Canadian population as a whole.

A People’s Party government will explore options to replace the paternalistic Indian Act, which keeps aboriginals in a state of dependency and allows the federal government to control most aspects of their lives, with a new legal framework that guarantees equal rights and responsibilities to aboriginal people as Canadians, and promotes the self-reliance of communities.
A People’s Party government will respect our Constitution and treaties. It will reaffirm the federal government’s power to approve natural resources and infrastructure projects, after adequate consultations with affected aboriginal groups, and in partnership with them to ensure they can benefit from these economic opportunities.
    Freedom

The lack of real private property on reserves is in part responsible for the poor state of housing and the social ills that derive from it, and is one of the greatest impediments to economic development.

A People’s Party government will explore further avenues to promote the establishment of individual property rights on reserves so as to empower its residents, and give them increased control over their lives.
    Fairness

Fairness demands that all Canadians benefit from roughly equivalent services wherever they live. It’s unacceptable that some aboriginal communities live in conditions that resemble those of third world countries. But the current model to solve these problems is based on top-down bureaucratic solutions imposed by Ottawa on dependent communities with no voice in the process.

A People’s Party government will insure that aboriginal communities take more ownership of the services they receive in partnership with Ottawa and other levels of government.
    Responsibility

Although Ottawa spends about $21 billion a year on aboriginal programs, there is little evidence that living conditions have been improving in aboriginal communities. The federal government and aboriginal administrations have a responsibility to ensure that taxpayers’ money is well spent.

A People’s Party government will review federal spending to ensure that programs are better targeted to benefit the aboriginal population, in particular the communities that have the greatest needs.

  • Does anyone else out in the Canuckistan hinterland, the far flung wilderness feel as I do? That we need to re-open the Constitution? Not for reasons of perusal, adjustment of minor sections, but to 'ADD' ironclad, stringent rules for the protection of taxpayers' money during the run-ups to Federal elections. If it's already in there, nobody seems to care or enforce it. Lieberals, primarily, have ramped up our debt of over 2/3s Trillion, yes $700 plus billion. Our current 'fool-on-the-hill' is outspending the worst of the spenders, closely following the example of his fave uncle, (remember her, Scaly Kate McWynnie???), showing a complete and utter contempt and disregard for the taxpayer. He's so far promised billions. He and has borrowed many hundreds of millions for actual cash being handed out. Santa'd be embarrassed a the amount of coin in being distributed in lieberal friendly ridings. Meanwhile the moron sends a measly $500,000 in aid to Hurricane Dorion devastated Bahamas, a fellow Commonwealth country. $600 million tossed to journalistic allies to counter Conservative thought(censor). $50 million to aid 3rd world abortionists! The bast..d has given terrorists(see Kadhr) cheques for $10.5M just because, while welcoming home ISIS fighters with open arms(and a nice fat cheque??). He's sent billions of borrowed dollars to some of the worst despots and dictators on the planet, particularly in the Middle East! I'll save his taxpayer paid travel schedule for another day. It's too gut-wrenching to address at this time. I want my tax dollars protected. Between borrowing money from his communist pals in Red China and allowing them to purchase whatever business or hunk of land that takes their fancy, the ChiComms now own a good deal of our country complete with the financial leverage to demand change. I want to see pandering, spending to buy votes pet projects to be put into the Constitution as an unbending item, no loop-holes please. I want severe financial penalties for any party who dares to flaunt the rules. I'm sick to the teeth with these lieberal's, their smirking superiority and their stinking lies. What's the freek'n matter with Canuckistanis??? Are we that stupid, that prone to being bought off or merely uninterested as long as the TV works, the pizza get delivered on time and the Starbuck's is just the right temp???

  • On the Malicious and Scientifically Illiterate Bullies Afraid of Greta Thunberg
    https://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/09/02/malicious-and-scientifically-illiterate-bullies-afraid-greta-thunberg
    Andrew Mitrovica

It was, in a subtle way, a defining moment.

After a 15-day trek across the Atlantic Ocean, Thunberg looked exhausted. Still, the 16-year-old climate change activist knew she had to talk about the meaning and purpose of her unorthodox journey with supporters who greeted her on an overcast New York shoreline.

Predictably, the tired, petite Swedish schoolgirl faltered, losing her train of thought briefly before apologising. "I'm sorry," she said, "my brain is not working correctly."

The crowd applauded. Energised by the encouragement, Thunberg finished her short speech, where she urged the rest of us to "work together, despite our differences" to avert "the biggest crisis humanity has faced … because, otherwise, it might be too late. Let's not wait any longer. Let's do it now."

For me, that distinctly human moment crystalised the appeal of Thunberg—a young woman who, distressed at the world's inexorable destruction, was moved to do something about it. Alone, if necessary.

In words and deeds, Thunberg is the embodiment of philosopher Howard Zinn's admonition: "We don't have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can quietly become a power no government can suppress, a power that can transform the world."

She disdains celebrity. She makes no claim to heroism. She rebuffs efforts to idolise her. She isn't calculating or preoccupied with fame or ego. There is no artifice about her. She speaks plainly, without affectation or embroidery.

Of course, the marauding swarm of vitriolic right-wing climate-change deniers see Thunberg—not how the prophetic Zinn envisioned her—but as a tiny, pretentious zealot who threatens the existing order. Their order. Their comforts. Their traditional "way of life".

De rigueur, they have set out to discredit and, if possible, to destroy Thunberg with their, by now, familiar and crass modus operandi.

They have mocked her. They have belittled her. They have denigrated her. They have insulted her. They have dismissed her. They have questioned her motives. They have suggested she is anti-democratic. They have, in the fetid recesses of the internet, even threatened her.

To afford all their fuming, sophomoric attacks the imprimatur of seriousness, they insist—as they always do—that they are the implacable realists, who, unlike starry-eyed leftists, aren't duped by the media's veneration of a youngster peddling doom and gloom over the supposedly still-contested science about whether the end is nigh or not.

They would, no doubt, recoil at any suggestion that their furious hostility towards Thunberg is also the product of a calcifying cynicism, seething malevolence or signature cruelty.

Rather, they insist, it is an expression of their necessary role as sceptics or contrarians in the noble tradition of their philosophical patron saint in name only, Galileo, who also questioned the prevailing scientific orthodoxy.

It is a lie and an insult. They aren't "sceptics" or "contrarians". They are scientifically illiterate bullies who amplify their malice and ignorance with a bullhorn on TV or keyboard on Twitter.

They share no intellectual affinity with Galileo. None. Bereft of an argument that could remotely be considered empirically or rationally sound, they traffic in hyperbole and smears designed to pummel Thunberg into an inconsequential afterthought.

The teenage revolutionary must be stopped before the climate revolution she leads goes beyond their ability to halt it.

Consider what the Australian columnist, Andrew Bolt, had to say about her.

"No teenager is more freakishly influential than Thunberg, the deeply disturbed messiah of the global warming movement," he wrote. "I have never seen a girl so young and with so many mental disorders treated by so many adults as a guru."

Not done calling her a freak and disturbed, Bolt invoked Thunberg's reported past eating disorder, emotional and psychological struggles and autism as a cudgel against her.

I defer to psychologists to discern the pathology that would prompt such viciousness. But Bolt's fear of the Thunberg phenomenon is plain. She is prevailing. He is losing. She is being heard, while he shouts obscenities. She grows more relevant by the day, while he slips further into irrelevancy and hysteria.

When the predictable character assassination of a teenager gambit fails, it's time to raise "questions" about who or what powerful forces may be acting as Svengalis exploiting a vulnerable, damaged "child" for their parochial aims and possible profit.

"Is Thunberg a green prophet or a schoolgirl puppet controlled by more sinister forces behind her?" the always temperate London-based The Sun newspaper asked, rhetorically.

Using innuendo and recycled drivel, The Sun claimed a "naive" Thunberg was being manipulated by her "fame-hungry" mother and "energy giants".

Like the paper itself, it is all empty conjecture designed to undermine Thunberg's legitimacy and authenticity and her just cause. It will not work because, clearly, she is no one's marionette.

The irrational, absurd assaults on Thunberg's personality and motives aren't the exclusive preserve of the rancid tabloid press.

Indeed, The New York Times newspaper permitted one journalist, Christopher Caldwell, to argue that Thunberg's appeals for immediate action are, incredibly, "in conflict with democracy".

"Ms Thunberg believes that we should act, not argue," Caldwell wrote in his missive, oozing with condescension about her lack of life experience, "crude language", "unrealistic" world view, and "out of balance" priorities.

While simultaneously acknowledging that the "authorities" agree with Thunberg that the climate crisis constitutes an "emergency", Caldwell claims that the youthful Swede is only interested in "sowing panic" and "simplification".

His cockeyed prescription: more patience. "Democracy calls for waiting and seeing."

[Thunberg] is the personification of the democratic impulse, not the antithesis of it.
This is climate change denialism with the patina of gravitas.

Thunberg, like the overwhelming scientific consensus she is intimately familiar with, is loud and clear on this urgent imperative: The time for waiting and seeing was over long ago.

Patience, in this pressing context, is not a virtue, it is an abdication of responsibility.

Thunberg has deployed every democratic tool at her imaginative disposal to make this salient point again and again. She is the personification of the democratic impulse, not the antithesis of it.

So, I join millions of other global citizens who have been humbled, inspired and stirred by Thunberg's steely steadfastness in the face of the often-repellent locusts who come to bury her, not to praise her.

    Here's looking at you, kid.

"I have never seen a girl so young and with so many mental disorders treated by so many adults as a guru." Not done calling her a freak and disturbed, Bolt invoked Thunberg's reported past eating disorder, emotional and psychological struggles and autism as a cudgel against her. "Democracy calls for waiting and seeing." [Thunberg] is the personification of the democratic impulse, not the antithesis of it.
On the Malicious and Scientifically Illiterate Bullies Afraid of Greta Thunberg
As the world starts to take note of the teen climate activist, her critics have launched increasingly personal attacks...
