• Like Father, Like Son October 18 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 Listen to today's Devotional

Years ago, there was an anti-smoking commercial that showed a little boy doing everything just like his dad. It really was cute watching the little guy copy his dad’s every action… that is, until the dad sat down under a tree to smoke a cigarette.

The commercial ends with the little boy picking up his dad’s pack of cigarettes and a voice saying, “Like father, like son.” That commercial served as a reminder of an important fact: our children will do as we say for a while, but eventually they will do as we do. That’s why it is so important that we model genuine Christianity for our children… that our walk matches our talk. So, parents, make sure your children see your personal, loving devotion to God. Believe me… they are watching you! https://mailchi.mp/206aa2eba83e/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453213?e=9cbe669f39

  • All it Takes October 17 But seeing the wind, he became afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, ‘Lord, save me! Matthew 14:30 Listen to today's Devotional

I don’t know if this is the shortest prayer in the Bible, but it is definitely brief! I like this prayer; it is a passionate S.O.S. Remember how the disciples saw Jesus walking to them on the Sea of Galilee, and Peter asked Jesus to command him to walk on the water to Him. Once Peter took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink, and he didn’t have time for any formal or fancy language. He just cried out in desperation, ‘Lord, save me.’ Sometimes, when difficulty comes into our lives, and we realize we need to get serious about the Lord, all we may be able to do at the moment is cry out, ‘Lord, save me!’ But that is all it really takes.

When we cry in desperation to the one Who can rescue us, we can be confident that the Lord is ready – and waiting – and will reach out His hand. https://mailchi.mp/b11689985a51/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453209?e=9cbe669f39

  • Hi Dad, bye Dad October 16 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart. Colossians 3:20 Listen to today's Devotional

A child in our church was asked, “If there were a TV show about your family, what would it be called?” The youngster answered, “Hi Dad! Bye Dad!” His reply spoke volumes about his longing for the love and attention of his “workaholic” dad. Fatherhood is a relationship.

So any man who is not involved in the lives of his children and is clueless to their struggles, dreams, and desires is not really a father. Without a doubt, our earthly dads impact our concept of God, our Heavenly Father. Sadly, though, many dads make it difficult for their children to believe there really is a Father in Heaven who loves them and desires a relationship with them. So men, let me ask you a question: what idea of “father” are you planting in your kids? https://mailchi.mp/3bad07637585/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453205?e=9cbe669f39

  • Prepare the way October 15 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. John 1:16 Listen to today's Devotional

While visiting the historic settlement at Williamsburg, Virginia, I noticed several groundskeepers carefully combing the gravel paths and removing any rough stones. I asked one of them if they did that every day. He replied, “No, but we’re expecting the Emperor of Japan this week, so we’re making sure all the pathways are level and straight.” I immediately thought, “That’s what John the Baptist did as he prepared the way for Jesus Christ, the coming Messiah! How did he do it?

By being a voice in the wilderness with the message “Repent… turn from your sin.” It is repentance that prepares the way for Jesus, our King, to enter our hearts. What about you? Have you prepared the way for the Lord by turning from your sin? https://mailchi.mp/865fd2571c0c/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453201?e=9cbe669f39

  • At His feet October 14 “There is no one holy like the Lord; indeed, there is no one besides You, nor is there any rock like our God.” I Samuel 2:2 Listen to today's Devotional

How do you handle a challenge, whether it is a simple “molehill” kind of problem or a Mount Everest moment where the whole of life has bottomed out? First, stay cool. Slow down, and remember that God has said, “Be still and know that I am God.” Next, take a time out to get your priorities right, and recall that our number one priority is to seek the kingdom of God. Finally, focus on the big picture. Ask God to help you see the situation from the perspective of eternity.

In other words, bring Christ into the equation and don’t let the little gnats destroy you. Does that sound daunting? How can you keep all these things in your arsenal for living? The answer: Worship. Sit at the feet of Jesus, submit to His Word, listen for His voice. …and worship Him. https://mailchi.mp/c1d7b2dd4a7b/the-truest-freedom-you-can-ever-experience-453189?e=9cbe669f39

  • A Different Drummer:
A trip to the store, for some special spaghetti fixins, and garlic bread. Feeling good. Life is pretty easy and pleasant lately. Cept for the pains of getting old, I get up when I want. Go to bed when I choose. Watch what I want when I want....do what I want whenever. No worries, about much of anything really. Then I met her, Noticed her going into the store. Sitting on the ground on a old table cloth. 20 to 30 thirty something. Pretty red hair and freckles, always been a favorite to me. I went in, got what I needed came back out. She was still sitting there organizing car tools. I walked over and inquired won't start?. The most beautiful smile beamed back at me. Oh no it starts and goes. But I keep hitting things with it, she giggled. Another beautiful smile. You see right now I am living in this old car and it has been leaking water after my last bump. The front was fairly well crunched, and the radiator obviously damaged. I peeked in, and said its banged pretty good, I would go get some "aluma fix" it has real aluminum fillings in it and is good at sealing larger leaks and works fast and pretty well. She listened. Smiled. She chatted on awhile, telling me about the engine, and it's uniqueness and how she could never find a good youtube on the car because it has a v-8. I listened awhile, needing to get home I kinda excused myself. AND SHE THANKED ME........... I really did nothing for her. Homeless living in her broken car and she was kind and nice. I thought about all the things I have posted here. She was almost an embodiment of everything I have been posting. Not afraid, nor feeling hopeless or distressed. Just accepting her current situation, smiling through it all. And still able to show kindness to a stranger. I felt somewhat guilty when I got home. Looking around at my good fortune in life. And said a prayer, Dear God Please Help The Red Haired Lady. She is kind and generous in her ways. And really needs your help. I Hope Today He Hears Me. Because even the poor and distressed are often times those who can bring the biggest smiles and joys in life. And give me hope for the future. -Gary

  • ‪Imagine if Chinese or Indian actors, pop stars, superstars and even the Chinese or Indian governments and media etc were vehemently anti-Chinese or anti-Indian, that is that they were aggressively speaking up for and actively vocalising their support of the rights and betterment of non-Chinese or non-Indian people before their own Chinese or Indian people. Imagine if Chinese or Indian actors, musicians and media were aggressively anti-Chinese or anti-Indian and went about actively seeking and encouraging the immigration and privileged status of hundreds of thousands of Muslims and Africans into China or India. In short, imagine if Chinese or Indian actors, singers and news channels had betrayed their own native Chinese and Indian people in preference to and for the privileged status of non-Chinese or non-Indian immigrants above and beyond their indigenous Chinese or Indian people in China and India.

‪This is exactly what it feels like to be white in 2019.‬

‪All white actors and singers that I grew up with in the 80’s and 90’s and that I really looked up to and liked as a child have utterly betrayed us, and therefore, I am no longer their fan.‬

The inverse of deserved divinity of nativism and primitivism determines that to attain the power and the glory we have to look back instead of forward, that is instead of looking up or forward to the rich, famous, advanced and future, we should look down or back to the poor, unknown, primitive and past. Do not look up to the famous and stars!

‪ ‪Can an African listen to Oasis, the Smiths or trance music? Can an African watch and be a fan of Blackadder or Monty Python? Can a white person listen RnB, rap or reggae? As a white person, tell me that most of you do not feel inner racial repugnance to and feel unattracted to or repelled from RnB or rap on racial grounds when you listen to it?

    Good luck finding black fans!‬
